My Most Anticipated Books of 2019

Happy New Year Friends! With 2018 having drawn to an end it is time to look forward to what 2019 has in store for avid book lovers! Similar to the past several years (2017, 2018), I’ve compiled a list of the top books in 2018 that I’m looking forward to being released.   Quite a few books on the following list might better be classified as wishful thinking, i.e., Winds of Winter, Doors of Stone, Desert Prince. Ever the optimist, I couldn’t help but group them in with the rest. Here’s to a fantastic reading year for all!

    • I hadn’t seen that news regarding the next Mistborn! Oh well. I can wait a bit longer.

      Honestly I couldn’t find any updates regarding the Kingkiller Chronicle. I put the title on this list to be optimistic!

  9. Erin Morgenstern is bringing out another book? That’s great – I loved The Night Circus.

    There’s nothing official yet (just some hints in the second instalment), but I’m hoping that the third part of Stephen Fry’s series on Greek mythology – covering the Trojan War and the Odyssey – comes out in late 2019, based on the first two being published in 2017 and 2018.

    Maybe The Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch will be published, but that’s been put back over and over for years now. And people think waiting for George R R Martin to publish The Winds of Winter is frustrating…

      • Yes, I’d definitely recommend Stephen Fry, whether he’s writing, narrating audiobooks or performing on TV. He’s one of those figures in British culture who can do no wrong, like Sir David Attenborough.
        The Lies of Locke Lamora – and the books that come after it – are indeed very good. It’s just a shame we’re less than halfway through the planned seven-book series and having to wait so long for it to continue.

Given the statements Martin has made since the release of Fire & Blood, several the podcaster/YouTube ASOIAF content creators have stated they’re actually beginning to think about how to deal with the release of Winds. I’ve followed these creators for over 5 years and they’ve never made as many mentions about the subject in such a short amount of time that I’m optimistic. But we’ll find out as the year continues.

    • Oh I’ve seen both of those titles showing up on lists too! I should probably look into them more. And yes, some of those books have been on the optimistic list for three years now. Lol

  12. This makes me want to do a 2019 book release post, too! The Priory of the Orange Tree has caught my eye ever since I sae a bunch of bookstubers get it at BEA/Bookcon last year. I habe also been curious about Katherine Arden’s books. Maybe tbis year I will get to one. Happy New Year and Happy Reading! 😄

    • Thank you Grace and Happy New Year! You should totally do a 2019 list! I look back on mine throughout the year. I’ve seen The Priority of the Orange Tree show up on quite a few lists. I should probably check it out!

  14. The Gilded Wolves is also on my list as is the next book in the Red Rising series. Although I have yet to start it, I’m hoping to delve into it this year. Great list!
