With 2016 having drawn to an end it is time to look forward to what 2017 has in store for avid book lovers! I’ve comprised a list of the top books in 2017 that I’m looking forward to being released. While at least one book on the following list might be classified as wishful thinking, i.e., Winds of Winter, I couldn’t help but group it in with the rest. I’m hopeful that I will be able to get a few of these prior to their release date! Keep your fingers crossed for me! Let me know what you think! Have I missed any key books?
- Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda – February 7, 2017
- A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab – February 21, 2017

Even I am hoping that Winds of Winter gets released in 2017. Have been waiting for that book for too long.

I’ll wait another year if it means the story line doesn’t feel rushed! I hate when that happens to authors or their series blows up and gets popular and they feel pressure to publish quantity over quality. That being said, I can’t wait!

that’s true. I don’t want the quality of the book to get affected because of the pressure but at the same time, I am very eager to read the book.

Is Robin Hobb worth reading?
Also, do you like Sanderson?

I really like the detail that Hobb puts into his books. Honestly I haven’t read Sanderson yet. I’ve heard such good things that the first book in that series is next one I will be reading. I have a few books on that list that are series I will be starting soon.

Winds of Winter is #1 on my list, and I think The Dinosaur Princess may be my favorite cover by Richard Anderson yet!

Hello James! Yes you should! Keep in mind that it takes significant effort to fully immerse yourself into the first book and the world in general. Milan pretty much throws you right into the storyline and you have to figure it out as you go! Worth the read!

An interesting list. On a slightly different note. Are you setting yourself a target for the number of books you will read next year? I seem to recall from a previous post you read 90.

I did read 90! My goal for my blogging year (June-June) is over 100 books, however I haven’t made a set goal for the calendar year. I love reading, but I feel if I set a number to reach it might take some of the fun out of the activity and replace it with pressure.

Stephen King has collaborated on a novel with his son, Owen called Sleeping Beauties. The book is set in a women’s prison in West Virginia. The book is expected to be released in 2017. I understand that the first draft has already been written

I really enjoy most of King’s novels! Thanks for pointing his next one out. I find it fascinating he is collaborating with his son on this book. I’ll have to add it to my list!

Showing my age here, but I am fascinated by the excitement and sharing generated by social media and technology about books. We can read digitally, review books without being a professional reviewer, read multiple reviews of books from various viewpoints and interact about them, follow the progress of favorite authors, and anticipate book releases. Amazing!
Nice book list–it looks like 2017 will be a great year of reading pleasure for you!

Thank you Linda! I would have to add to your wonderful list being able to interact with authors. That has been one of the most rewarding aspects of blogging is communicating with authors about their works! Happy 2017!

Greets Sarah!
You know, never really saw anyone do an ‘anticipated books of a particular year’ list. This is pretty snazzy. Some authors are familiar to me, many are not. Have saved a few on my amazon list for future reference when time permits. Really appreciate the simple, straight forward, yet very pragmatic approach you’ve used here.
Keep up the great work!

Thank you for all of your kind words! I made the list to have a personal reference to keep track of them all! Which ones did you save?

Yeah lists are great! It’s actually a very logical thing to do and employ.
Okay so, to answer your question here it goes. Saved the following:
Oathbringer seems very intriguing.
Empress Of A Thousand Skies, after seeing the reference to Firefly, which is one of my favorite Sci Fi movies, figured it might be a winner?
The Winds Of Winter [have had quite a few of George R.R. Martin’s books on my ‘to-get’ list, but just haven’t had the time to read! Well, time to read, yes, but do a lot of research so am reading 90% of the time nonfiction, so when going about fiction am a little cautious since don’t end up having too much free time. Mind you, haven’t read ONE of his, but SO MANY seem so worthwhile, that am definitely going to get some eventually. Hopefully soon!
Also saved the Throne of Glass and the Demon Cycle series, as a just in case.
What are your favorite series ever? Like if you had to recommend 2-3?

Oh ya, sorry to share the sad news on the date. (I follow SJM news constantly.) It sounds like it is due to health reasons, plus the Novella coming out in June is now a novel and will be releasing in September. I bet it will be awesome 😉
