2020 Beekeeping Update #1- Etsy Store Opening!

Hello friends! I hope your 2020 has started off with a good book and visiting somewhere warmer than Michigan. It’s been quite a while since I’ve given an update on our honeybees. We ended the 2019 with four healthy hives that were healthy going into the winter and are still healthy as far as we know. Based on a reoccurring request, Luke and I have opened an Etsy shop for our extra raw honey.

You can follow the following links to visit the shop and maybe order some if you’re in the market for some Michigan wildflower raw honey or creamed honey.

  2. That looks incredible. How much honey is produced via the four active hives you have? It’s a thing I’ve always wondered.

I’ve become a firm believer in the value of local honey for people who suffer from seasonal allergies, but since I don’t live in Michigan … 😉

And what the heck is creamed honey?

    • Each of our hives made 100 lbs of honey this year! We’ve had four hives for the past couple of years and our total honey has ranged from 60-150 lbs. So having 400 lbs this year we really don’t know what to do with all of it!
Creamed honey is raw honey that has been mixed in a blender several different times over a couple of weeks to give it the smooth, spreadable texture of icing. It’s actually our top seller right now.
I agree! Honey is super helpful for the seasonal allergies! 🙂

  3. What a beautiful photo summary. Bees are one of God’s amazing creations! We learned quite a lot about them when we tried beekeeping 2 seasons (and failed spectacularly!) Enjoy the fruit of your labors and a successful Etsy shop — from a fellow Etsy-er 🙂
